::Keratoconus Symptoms Los Angeles, California
Cornea suffering from keratoconus can cause various
symptoms. We are going to list the symptoms of
keratoconus and explain the aetiology of these
troublesome factors which makes lives of keratoconus
patients miserable. If we know the cause of symptoms
of keratoconus eyes, we can layout a better plan for
keratoconus treatment.
1. Frequent change of glasses ( increasing
nearsightedness or astigmatism)
2. Increased light senstivity
3. Eye Irritation
4. glare and haloes
5. Eye strain
6. Rubbing which improves vision
7. headaches
8. Double vision
The Cornea is the clear transparent spherical structure which not only allows light to pass through but also act as a Strong converging lens to bring into focus the rays of light onto the fovea. When the Cornea looses its sphericity it becomes cone shaped. As a kid you may have used a magnifying glass to allow sunlight to pass through, focus and burned paper. The Cornea needsto be smooth & uniform like the magnifying glass. But when the Cornea becomes weak and the apex of the Cornea sags, the cornea itself becomes irregular distorting the incoming light. This distortion give rise to glare, halo and irritation. Since the irritation induces eye rubbing the glare and halo’s can cause headaches, eye strain and even double vision. Sometimes the rubbing can push the apex back up improving the vision temporarily. This is how rubbing can improve vision and also may be an effective cause of Keratoconus.
